  1. I was so thrilled to see the note from Pastor Wilowski that I can access Calvary news on my computer. How wonderful it is to see old friends. Memories are wonderful things and I have so many wonderful memories of all my years at Calvary. Thank you for this opportunity.

  2. Searched elca.org, couldn’t find Calvary Lutheran; I thought, what happened? Googled it from my laptop here in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan, and found that the church of my birth and baptism (1959) has realigned. I have fond memories of Pastor Johnson circa 1959-1966 and Kindergarten/First Grade at Calvary Lutheran School with Mrs. June Brown and Mrs. McCombs, before we moved on out to Agoura and two years later in 1968 to Thousand Oaks where I was permanently corrupted by public education. Haven’t lived in CA since graduating from Thousand Oaks HS in 1977 and going into the Army; raised my family in mid-1980s in Minnesota and Iowa, and later from 1993 on in Houston, Texas. I understand that Pastor Johnson died ca. (10) days after my own mother did, in October of 2008. Am deployed to Afghanistan for the second time (did one tour in Iraq earlier). Last drove down Osborne St., where we lived, with my mother in 1999; we stopped to visit Calvary Lutheran that day. We also visited Joe and Jane Hoistad that day; they were perhaps the only surviving members from the 1950s-mid 1960s, when Calvary hosted ca. (750) in Sunday School and maybe (1500) or so members. My late parents, Harvey and Fern Haugrud, were married by Pastor Anderson at Calvary in 1956.

    • God Bless You Rolf! We have a few folks here who remember you and your parents, Fern and Harvey and your brother Eric.

  3. Hi Rev. Wilkowski
It’s your old classmates! and we are happy to be able to correspond a bit. We didn’t know about salvation until we were about 50 yrs old. We were led to the Lord by our daughter, Diane. We attend a Wesleyan Church in Valley City (remember that town south of us?) a true Bible based church. We are now in Olmsted Falls in a cozy condo. You must love California!! Would love to hear from you.
    as ever
